Beautiful Houses/4 (and bestselling authors)

Pacific Heights

And if you walk around Pacific Heights, you can't miss this one, at the corner of Broadway and Steiner. I don't find this house beautiful, but there's something interesting to it:

The Spreckles Mansion  is an enormous limestone mansion which was built in 1913 by the sugar baron Adolph Spreckles for his new wife. It now belongs to the writer Danielle Steel. According to Wikipedia, she has sold more than 600 million copies of her books (as of 2010) worldwide, she is the fifth bestselling writer of all time*, and currently the bestselling author alive. Mmm... maybe I should try to write a romance novel...

*Who are the first four?
1. William Shakespeare + Agatha Christie (both with 4 billion books); 2. Barbara Cartland (1 billion); 3. Harold Robbins (750 million); 4. Georges Simenon (700 million);  5. Sidney Sheldon +  Enid Blyton + Danielle Steel (600 million).
